Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of RISE. We depend on volunteers to assist with daily operations of RISE. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. All volunteers 18 and over must pass a background check and cannot have any felony charges. We request volunteers work a minimum of a 2-hour weekly shift. RISE hours are Monday through Friday, with our biggest volunteer need in the mornings and early afternoons.

Sidewalker

This is a physical job with a lot of walking and jogging. These volunteers interact with the client and instructor. They provide physical support to the rider on the horse as needed. They follow and reinforce the instructor/therapist’s instructions during client sessions. Whether playing a game, singing songs, or quietly walking along with the horse and rider, their role is vital to the success of RISE.

Special events/ Administrative

If you have skills in planning events, soliciting community connections, coordinating vendors, or gathering silent auction items this is this role for you. These volunteers help to plan and staff special events as well as the annual fundraisers. These volunteers must be prepared to commit time and have strong communication skills to be successful. We also need volunteers to help with summer camps, fundraisers, and community events.

Horse Leader

This is a volunteer position that requires additional RISE specific training and is only available to those with horse experience and/or to already trained volunteers. These volunteers help prepare horses for sessions, prepare tack, and lead the horse during sessions. Horse leaders are the bridge between riders, instructors, and our horses. They help protect the mental and physical wellness of our herd.
