Helping Horse Heroes. . .

We have the most amazing herd of working horses: Pearl, Pete, Apollo, Max, Sutton and Willow. As working horses they need high quality hay, grain and supplements to stay strong and healthy. Each of our horses eat around 25 pounds of hay a day. That is a lot of hay! We are asking you to partner with RISE to provide our heroes the hay that they need. Any funds we raise beyond the hay we need to buy will be used to provide the additional care that maintaining our herd requires including vet care, farrier services, and training.

Reaching Inside Souls using Equines. . .the mission of RISE is to Reach Inside Souls using Equines while helping individuals with physical, cognitive or emotional needs meet personal goals, maximize activities in daily life and experience the joy of horsemanship.

Our program is located in the Garden Ridge area and includes:

Adaptive Riding. . .

teaches horsemanship and riding skills to individuals with unique or special needs. In addition to equestrian skills, the rider learns social, behavioral and communicative skills that foster a relationship with the horse and reinforce positive behavior in social situations.

Equine Assisted Therapy (Hippotherapy). . .

defined as physical, occupational or speech therapy treatment that utilizes the dynamic movement of the horse to achieve personal and functional goals. The word “hippo” is the Greek word for horse. The horse’s rhythmic movement simulates the movement of walking which makes the horse an effective tool for physical improvement.
